PAP 20
Used for corrugated transport boxes and protective packaging. A cut edge normally reveals a wave-shaped inner layer.
PAP 21
Used for solid folding cartons, cereal boxes and similar non-corrugated paperboard packaging.
Sorting decision
Both often use a paper/cardboard route when clean and dry, but laminates, wax, food residue and local size limits can change the answer.
Common questions
Questions people ask
Can PAP 20 and PAP 21 go in the same bin?
Often yes, but not universally. Check the local paper/cardboard instructions.
Is thickness enough to tell them apart?
No. The key feature is whether the board has a fluted corrugated layer.
Does either code guarantee recycling?
No. They identify material only.
