Terms of use
WasteSpot is an information and community-contribution service. It does not replace a municipality, waste operator, emergency service or competent authority.
1. Informational status
A marker does not guarantee that a place is open, publicly accessible, free of charge or authorised to accept a particular item. Confirm current acceptance rules, opening hours, charges and safety conditions with the operator before travelling.
2. Local rules
Waste law and collection systems vary by jurisdiction and can change. WasteSpot provides summaries and links, but the official authority or operator source controls when a conflict or omission exists. Hazardous, medical, asbestos-containing, explosive, pressurised or unidentified materials require specialist advice.
3. Illegal-dumping reports
Users may submit factual observations of waste or litter. Reports must not contain false allegations, faces, licence plates, unnecessary personal data, threats, unlawful material or content unrelated to the reported location. Do not trespass, confront another person or place yourself in danger.
4. Symbol photo identification
Photo identification returns possible matches from the WasteSpot Symbols catalogue. It does not guarantee that a mark was identified correctly, that the photographed item is recyclable, or that a local collection programme accepts it. Confirm the printed code and the official local rule before disposal.
5. Collection-place suggestions
Users may propose a missing collection point. A suggestion should identify the location accurately, describe accepted materials honestly and include a supporting source where available. Submission does not guarantee publication. WasteSpot may verify, amend status metadata, reject or delete a suggestion.
6. Submitted content licence
By submitting a report, photograph or place suggestion, you confirm that you may provide it and grant WasteSpot a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, review, resize, reproduce and publish the content for service operation, moderation and public-interest documentation.
7. Availability and external sources
The service relies on external map, geocoding, public-data and statistics providers. Searches or data layers can be delayed, limited or unavailable. WasteSpot may restrict requests or suspend functions to protect the service and comply with provider policies.
8. Third-party scheme names and marks
Deposit-system names, programme identifiers and official marks belong to their respective owners. WasteSpot uses scheme names in ordinary text only to identify the relevant public programme and does not claim sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation. The package-label images published by WasteSpot are original locator illustrations and do not reproduce official logo artwork. The linked official source controls the exact current mark and its permitted use.
9. Widget and PDF guides
The WasteSpot symbol widget may be embedded without modification on public informational websites while its WasteSpot source link remains visible. WasteSpot A4 PDF guides may be downloaded, printed and shared unchanged for informational and educational use with the source line intact. These resources must not be presented as official local-authority instructions, resold as standalone products or altered in a way that removes safety and local-rule qualifications.
10. Waste Exchange
Waste Exchange is a moderated discovery directory for non-hazardous secondary materials. WasteSpot is not a buyer, seller, broker, carrier, payment processor or waste-shipment authority and does not approve the legal classification of a material or shipment. Listing parties remain responsible for material classification, licences, contracts, transport, destination acceptance, import/export controls and any notification or consent procedure required by law. Hazardous and other controlled hazardous-material listings are outside the initial Waste Exchange scope. WasteSpot may reject, close, expire or delete listings that are incomplete, misleading, unsafe or outside the permitted categories.
11. Advertising
WasteSpot may display third-party advertising supplied through Google AdSense. Advertising is selected and delivered by Google and participating advertising technology providers and may vary by location, browser, consent choices, advertiser demand and other factors. The appearance of an advertisement does not constitute WasteSpot endorsement of the advertiser, product or service. WasteSpot does not control every advertisement shown and does not guarantee an advertiser's claims. Users must not attempt to manipulate ad delivery, generate invalid traffic or make fraudulent ad interactions.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, WasteSpot is provided without a guarantee of completeness, accuracy, uninterrupted availability or fitness for a specific disposal decision. Users remain responsible for lawful transport, handling and disposal of waste.
