Local guidance

Quito, Ecuador

Quito is expanding differentiated collection routes; participation and collection days depend on the route serving the neighbourhood.

Collection and sorting guidance

Household collection

Use the EMASEO schedule for ordinary household waste at the address.

Recycling and reuse

Where a differentiated route operates, place accepted dry recyclables in the collection format specified by EMASEO and present them on the published day.

Food and garden waste

Keep food and garden waste separate only where a dedicated route or composting programme is confirmed.

Special waste

Electronics, batteries, lamps, medicines, chemicals, bulky items and construction debris need an authorised route.

Bin and bag colours

Use the labels and instructions supplied by the local service. The colours below apply only within the scope stated for each stream.

Blue bag — Dry recyclables

Accepted clean paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and other dry recyclable materials listed for the route

Differentiated EMASEO routes that specify the blue-bag system; verify neighbourhood coverage
