Organic recovery
How to dispose of food scraps and kitchen waste.
Food scraps may be collected separately for composting or anaerobic digestion, but accepted materials and bag requirements vary locally.
Recommended route
Local food-waste collection, community composting point or authorised organic-waste service.
Before disposal
- Remove packaging unless the local service explicitly accepts it
- Use the required paper or compostable liner where specified
- Check whether meat, bones, dairy and garden material are accepted
Avoid
Do not place plastic packaging, glass, metal or ordinary rubbish in a food-waste collection point.
